Elon Musk buys Twitter, why? | 3 reasons why Elon wants Twitter |

 Elon Musk is the richest man on Earth today.and now he is owner of twitter. Elon Musk bought out twitter for 44 billion dollars. let me tell you what happened in a simple way. Twitter , a publicly listed social media company will now become a privately owned company.

The basis on which twitter functions will undergo some very important changes. Elon Musk has two main objectives.

1) To make Twitter a platform for free speech.

2) To clean Twitter of all the spam accounts who troll and harass the users.

But there is one more reason , and a third reason that Elon Musk is hiding from all of us. I make sure that you will get to know the third reason by the end of the answer.

Why buy Twitter ?

Twitter is not the top earning social media platform. neither does it have the highest users among others. Twitter made 5 billion dollars in FY 2021-22. daily users of 217 million. i know it’s quite large in isolation but as compared to other social media platforms it’s comparatively less. Youtube made 28 billion dollars . Amazon 30 billions dollars and facebook with a peak 117 billion dollars just in the last year. talking about economies , twitter is not special , but even then , twitter is special.

Twitter is the only platform which did not become a video platform and is same as how it started years ago.

Twitter was , is , and will be a micro blogging platform. Witter is one of the few spaces out there written content is king. where every use , big or small is a creator. from politicians to financial gurus. everyone is active on twitter. every government has official twitter handles. plus ordinary people can get attention from high performers. celebrities can listen to the real time conversations happening in their fans worlds.

And he is of the most followed accounts on twitter. a few days ago , he purchased a 9.2% stake in twitter and became the largest share holder in twitter . but he did not join twitter’s board. he said that ,

Twitter had a big problem of freedom of speech which Elon Musk wanted to solve. Twitter says with confidence that it wants to promote safe , inclusive , authentic conversations . but many times , we can see a distinct bias on twitter. Many times , hate filled narratives become popular.

For example , twitter permanently banned Donald Trump. On other hand Taliban’s Twitter handle is still active .

Look , it doesn’t matter if you agree with Trump’s views or not . but banning an acting President of US from a platform forever is a gutsy move. it goes against the concept of freedom of speech. Elon musk calls himself a free speech Absolutist. He believes there should be limits on free speech but only countries can put limits on free speech and that too only if twitter is operating in their country. Twitter as platform does not have the authority to squash free speech in any way that they like and to decide what opinions should be on the platform and should not be on the platform. Elon Musk believes the algorithms that decide what content will work should be made public and what is what Elon musk thinks.

But what is the hidden reason ?

Elon Musk can cause wide fluctuations in crypto prices.

He can generate or destroy crores of wealth. with one tweet , Elon Musk announces that teslas can be purchased with bitcoin , this causes bitcoin prices to climb to an all time high and then by saying that bitcoin is not good for the planet , can withdraw his own decisions.

Which causes bitcoin prices to sharply crash for days. Elon Musk is the world’s biggest financial influencer. Elon Musk is such an influential person that before he makes an financial tweet , he needs securities and exchange Commission (SEC) Permission. Because people can take any decisions ( in stock market ) under his influence.

which can cause a lot of ups and downs.

Elon Musk does not want this power to go out of his hand.

I don’t know about freedom of speech for you and me. but Elon Musk worries about his own freedom of speech. There is saying Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely ( i am not blaming Elon Musk , he is my role model since many years and i truly look up to him ). Only time will tell what Elon Musk’s true intentions are . But i think there is hope because this was his first tweet after the deal to buy twitter got finalized.

And i completely agree. the people who agree with your thoughts and views. You’ll anyway support their freedom of speech but a true supporter of Freedom of speech who allows those thoughts to exist as well which he/she completely against .

Noam Chomsky has a very popular saying :- If we don’t believe in Freedom of Expression for people we despise we don’t believe in it at all.

Now what is going to happen twitter will become a privately held company , twitter’s shares that are listed in the stock exchange will be delisted and all control will be with Elon Musk .

Will twitter support free speech ? or will the concentration of so much power in one person will damage our future and our financial systems?
